Shiatzy Chen’s Fall-Winter 2025 collection explores the theme of migration through the technical reinterpretation of traditional Miao embroidery from Guizhou. Ten ancestral techniques are showcased through collaborations with seven intangible cultural heritage artisans. The garments revisit traditional structures, featuring intricately pleated skirts, flowing capes, and oversized coats. Each silhouette blends legacy and textile innovation: feathers, pearls, bells, and tassels reference the mythical Hundred-Bird Garment. The color scheme draws on symbolic Miao tones—platinum, pink, black-gold, crimson-black, and cerulean—blending heritage with modern vibrancy. Embroidery becomes a language of expression, with 3D effects, twisted threads, broken-line stitching, digital embroidery, and horsetail techniques translating feminine strength and delicacy. Accessories reflect Miao symbols (dragon, butterfly, sun) through detachable brooches paired with silver chains. Footwear, including boots and studded elements, echoes traditional legwear and ritual protection. The bag line balances function and style: the soft Hobo bag and secret-zip crossbody echo themes of mobility and transformation. Monumental visuals of Miao mythology surround the runway, elevating this homage to cultural craftsmanship.
